Pharmaceutical Analysis Core Lab

Overview of Services

System College of Pharmacy

Pharmaceutical Analysis Core Lab

The UNT System College of Pharmacy (SCP) is fully equipped for cutting edge biomedical research.  The SCP Pharmaceutical Analysis Core Lab is managed by College of Pharmacy personnel, staffed by a full-time Research Associate, and is a shared use facility that provides resources which are unique to campus and the surrounding area and complementary to those offered by the other Core Labs supported by the Division of Research and Innovation.  The SCP Pharmaceutical Analysis Core Lab engages in the analysis of small molecules, including nanoparticles, to support the early drug discovery and development endeavors of UNTHSC faculty and others through collaboration as well as fee-for-service.  Instrumentation housed in the facility include:

  • Agilent time-of-flight (Agilent 6230 TOF LC/MS) spectrometer coupled with a high-performance liquid chromatograph system and autosampler with nitrogen supplied by a Peak Genius XE35 nitrogen generator

  • Agilent tandem mass (Agilent 6460 QQQ LC/MS) spectrometer coupled with a high-performance liquid chromatograph system and autosampler with nitrogen supplied by a Peak Genius XE35 nitrogen generator

  • Waters Arc HPLC system with Empower 3 software and equipped with an autosampler, a UV/Vis detector and a photodiode array detector

  • Bruker 300MHz Fourier HD nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometer

  • Nicoya OpenSPR surface plasmon resonance instrument

  • Hanson Research SR8Plus dissolution test station

  • Thermo Scientific Nicolet iS5 FT-IR spectrometer

  • Bruker D2 Phaser XRD powder x-ray diffractometer

  • Agilent Cary 60 UV-Vis spectrophotometer with a Cary Single Cell Peltier Accessory for temperature control

  • Malvern Zetasizer Ultra Particle Analyzer with zeta potential measurement capabilities

  • Malvern Mastersizer 3000E Particle Analyzer

  • 9-station PermeGear vertical diffusion system and Franz cells for permeation studies

  • LabConco Freezone 12 Lyophilizer with 6 sample ports and a bulk tray dryer for aqueous solutions

  • Promega GlowMax Navigator dual-injection luminometer

  • BioRad ChemiDoc MP UV/Vis gel imaging system

  • BioRad CFX96 RT-PCR system

  • Olympus BX53F fluorescence microscope with a DP80 digital camera

  • Dissecting microscope
