These facilities help to enhance the Health Science Centers'  research enterprise and support the university's mission to create solutions for a healthier community.

To use the facilities managed with the iLab platform, you will need to create an account using the links at the top right of this page. 

  • HSC Students/Staff/Faculty will need to sign-up as an UNTHSC user. This will allow you to sign-in using your EUID and allow you to be recognized as an internal user. Students/Staff will need to request access to your PI's lab during the sign-up process.
  • External users will need to sign-up for an iLab account as a non UNTHSC user. For help with the sign-up process, you can visit the iLab Help site or contact Marcy.Butler@unthsc.edu.
  • If you have any issues with the registration process or working with the core facilities via iLab, please contact Marcy.Butler@unthsc.edu.

Discovery Centers

The Discovery Centers provide the campus community and small startup companies participating in the UNTHSC Acceleration Lab, access to two laboratory spaces with wet lab bench space and a unique inventory of general biomedical laboratory equipment to accommodate a wide range of research needs.

Flow Cytometry Core

Flow Cytometry Core Facility provides a comprehensive instrumentation suite and services in cell sorting and analysis. Currently, the core supports a cell sorter, benchtop cytometers, a fluorescence microscope, and an optical imaging system.

Genomics Core

The HSC Genomics Core Facility (GCF) is well equipped for molecular biology relating to next-gen sequencing and computational genomics. Our GCF represents a collaborative venture between multiple universities (i.e., A & M, UTA, and UTSA) for sample prep, sequencing, analysis; interpretation.

Microscopy and Histology Core

Microscopy and Histology Core Provides access to State-of-Art imaging and Histology sample preparation services through experienced Microscopy Specialist and Histologist. Imaging services is provided using instruments like Zeiss LSM confocal microscopes and Keyence AIO BF/FL microscopes.

Pharmaceutical Analysis Core Lab

The SCP Pharmaceutical Analysis Core Lab engages in the analysis of small molecules, including nanoparticles, to support the early drug discovery and development endeavors of UNTHSC faculty and others through collaboration as well as fee-for-service.

Pre-clinical Imaging Core

The Pre-clinical Imaging Core provides a wide variety of state-of-the-art tomographic imaging modalities, such as MRI, CT, PET, SPECT. The core is equipped with auxiliary resources to enable molecular and anatomical imaging for basic research and translational studies.
